SDG’s (Sustainable Development Goals)

Contributing to Sustainable Development Goals

Vepo Cheese wants to contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals of the United Nations. These 17 goals are also known as Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and focus on achieving a sustainable and inclusive world by 2030.

We have chosen SDGs with which we can make the biggest impact with our products and business processes.

Partnerships to achieve goals

SDG 17 focuses on effective (international) public, public-private and civil society partnerships for sustainable development.

This SDG concerns the role that Vepo Cheese plays in the chain with regard to sustainability, particularly in areas where chain cooperation is crucial, such as making our product range, packaging and logistics more sustainable.

Responsible consumption and production

SDG 12 focuses on the transition to a circular economy with less dependence on raw materials. The aim is to use raw materials more efficiently (including high-quality reuse of materials) and to encourage waste reduction and reuse. Reducing food waste is also part of this.

This SDG touches the core process of Vepo Cheese, where the use of (plastic) packaging is the core business. Reducing usage, innovating in collaboration with our partners in the field of recyclable film and mono packaging, and reducing food waste are our daily focus.

Decent work and economic growth

SDG 8 focuses, among other things, on making economic growth more sustainable and efficient, with attention to innovation, entrepreneurship and the environment, measured on the basis of Gross Domestic Product (GDP), resource efficiency and hourly wages of employees.

This SDG is in line with our ambition to achieve financial growth, good employment practices and further sustainability at Vepo Cheese.

Affordable and sustainable energy

SDG 7 focuses on energy security, sustainability and energy efficiency. Energy security in the Netherlands is high, but in recent years it has not always been affordable. That is why – and with a view to climate targets – the Netherlands is focusing on the use of renewable energy and energy efficiency.

This SDG affects Vepo Cheese’s own energy consumption and the sustainability of transport, areas in which we will be making significant progress in the coming years.
